Seven Moons From Jupiter

Jupiter Ariel, aka Lex Grotesque

June 5- June 26

Opening Reception on Arts Night Out

Jupiter Ariel, aka Lex Grotesque, sees themselves as a collective system rather than a single individual. Through parts work (Internal Family Systems therapy) and a range of internal and spiritual healing practices, Jupiter has created these artworks, each emerging from distinct states of consciousness. This exhibit represents a decade-long collaboration within their shared system and features contributions from their youngest part, a 7-year-old girl named Seven. The collection was born from an ongoing emotional, spiritual, and healing journey—marked by character development through performance art, fostering community, and, most importantly, cultivating a strong sense of self. These artworks serve as portals into the ongoing process of healing different parts (personalities) that have emerged over the years.

Meet some of the identities in the Jupiter Ariel system:

Andromeda, a twenty-something-year-old female with the energy and tenacity of a teenager.

IO, a queer, flamboyant but shy male whose age is not yet clear.

Most importantly, the youngest of Jupiter's parts, Seven. Seven is a child who was originally identified by Jupiter via their therapist back in 2012. Seven has ranged in age from 5 years old at times and othretimes more like an 8 or 9 years old.

The work is ongoing because living with complex trauma and Dissociative Identity Disorder does not have to destroy or damage lives, but can be understood as one result of childhood trauma bestowed upon the most resilient of people. To manifest beautiful things from some of the darkest of experiences.

  • Jupiter Ariel, aka  Lex Grotesque (they/them), is a BIPOC educator and activist dedicated to building community through interactive healing theater and queer burlesque in Western Massachusetts.
