COST: $35/INDIVIDUAL (INCLUDES MATERIALS), PARENTS/CAREGIVERS FREE

This workshop is designed specifically for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities + their caregivers. It’s an inclusive and supportive class that welcomes everyone — from emerging artists just discovering their creativity to experienced artists looking to explore new ideas. Emphasis is on the process of making art, rather than any particular outcome.
Participants will design and create abstract geometric art using paper. The project is broken down into easy to follow steps, directions are given verbally and visually, individual attention is given throughout, and appropriate pacing supports individual needs.
Open to all ages. Limited to 8 individuals with IDD + their caregiver.
Pre-registration required.
About the Instructor: Gayla Berry is the mother of a beautiful young woman with complex medical needs and IDD, a former teacher with a Master of Education, and a self-taught artist. Her experience as a parent of a child with profound challenges shapes the way she supports individuals and collaborates with families. Gayla has worked with learners of diverse abilities across ages, settings, and countries.
Gayla developed shared art-making workshops after searching for creative opportunities she and her daughter could participate in together. Although she found programs that welcomed her to attend with her daughter, none were built around shared participation between individuals who require support and their caregivers. So she created what she couldn’t find. Her workshops are accessible experiences that support connection, self-expression, and shared accomplishment.
