DANCING WITH FORM AND FLOW
WITH MADELYN FARR
THREE THURSDAYS, JANUARY 8-22, 5:30-7:00PM
COST: $75-$150, SLIDING SCALE*
For those of us who take flight in flow-inspired dance, in particular by the open-ended circularity
of our movement, finding greater definition and range in our expressive choices can be a
challenge. Dancing with Form and Flow deepens Madelyn’s mission to awaken the expressive
and emotive potential of older adults through the transformative magic of music and movement. This 3-class series is designed to guide lovers of flow into a greater array of gestural forms that
can quench our deeper yearning. The class will provide a guided warm-up, comprising a range of expressive options, followed by a series of improvisation structures to integrate the practice of form. Ultimately, we will craft our own movement phrases - soul-inspired nuggets of our own making. Madelyn will continue to fuel your expressive journey with a carefully-designed playlist - this time around holding space for dancing with sounds of silence! Everyone will all participate in creating a supportive, judgement-free space that honors who we are and the unique offerings we’ll be sharing with each other. No experience is necessary and all ranges of prior dance experience are welcome - the only criteria is the clear call you receive to participate!
Madelyn Farr is a dance/choreographer and expressive arts specialist, with a Masters in Dance-Movement Therapy. She has professional credits in her native Venezuela and in the northeast US. Madelyn explores the healing potential of Middle Eastern and other dance forms to enhance the soulful, sensual and expressive vitality of older adults - and brings her findings to her teaching practices. As the creator of Dancing with Joy & Sorrow, she has touched the hearts of many. She founded Wild Mushrooms; Aging With Art, a collaborative of older artists with a mission to inspire the artist in all of us, no matter the age!
