In this fun and creative photography class you will create expressive photos in Northampton near the Center for the Arts in order to explore camera controls, including aperture/F-stops, shutter speed, ISO, focus, composition, lighting, and photo file management basics. Do you own a photography cameras (digital or film cameras) that you still find. a little intimidating or confusing? Do you want to use your camera more effectively than you do now? Then this class is for you! Even if you don’t own a camera, but want to improve your photography skills, you can bring a smart phone and there will still be lots to learn. Each class will involve taking photos on short walks around the neighborhood.
As a photographer (and photography teacher), I’m comfortable with and trained on all different types of (working) digital and film photo cameras and enjoy teaching people how to use their cameras in more effective & artistic ways. My speciality is working with natural and available light sources (including light kits), so I will focus on using natural light in creative ways. I will also cover a bit about photo file management, including moving files from SD cards on to computers/hard drives, or uploading and/or photo sharing. I can also include basic photo editing with Pixlr or Photopea (free versions of Photoshop) and/or Photoshop, for students who can bring their own computers or other devices for photo editing. Whether you are a beginning or intermediate photographer, consider taking this photography class to further develop your skills and to connect with fellow artists in our creative community!
