Please join the Northampton Center for the Arts, A.P.E. Ltd., and Northampton Open Media at 33 Hawley for an opening reception with refreshments and live music during Arts Night Out on Friday, 7/10 from 5:00-8:00 pm!
The Northampton Center for the Arts presents its annual “Emerging Artist Showcase” featuring Christine Mirabal, Elena Watson, Kira Yan, Maddie McDougall, Paul Jablon, and Saleem Noorali. The exhibit features a diverse range of art forms, including oil painting, collage, and photography. This showcase presents a wonderful opportunity to view the artistic growth and diverse styles of these talented artists, each with unique backgrounds and stories.
In the Split Level Gallery, come see “Familial Bestiary,” works by Ava Harper curated by Sophie Gill and Adrienne Albro-Fisher as part of A.P.E.’s Emerging Curator Program. This exhibit explores Ava's work shaped by grief after losing her sister. Through narrative series, photography, and printmaking, she navigates both personal and imagined worlds, focusing on care and compassion for herself, her family, and the viewer. Come explore this conversation embodied by oversized rabbits representing warmth and childhood, and vultures symbolizing care amid loss.
Live music by Lily Lothrop
Based out of Troy NY, Lily Lothrop has been described as "extremely talented” and “urgently confessional”.
Her voice is a unique, fluttery, and warm standout in today’s vocal landscape, while her songwriting is very sincere and earnest. Authentic to her core, Lothrop doesn’t shy away from difficult feelings, and thoughts that usually get left unsaid. Mixed with her influences of 90’s and 00’s alternative rock, she offers herself up as a member of the new alternative crowd. Having just released her debut EP, we can expect to see much more from this artist in the future.
“Lothrop brings a lot of pop influence to this track [Vitamins], especially with her vocals. It has all of the hallmarks of a top-40 track, while staying true to her sound and vibe – a completely authentic listening experience with mass music appeal is a hard one to pull off, but she does just that.” - Jonathan Patrizio, Metroland Now
