LIVE MUSIC by Hazel Basil

Please join the Northampton Center for the Arts, A.P.E. Ltd., and Northampton Open Media at 33 Hawley for an opening reception with refreshments and live music during Arts Night Out on Friday, 9/12, from 5:00-8:00 pm!

The Northampton Center for the Arts presents Circo by Mariana Cicerchia. This exhibit serves as a compelling framework for exploring societal contracts and power dynamics within familial and communal contexts. It uncovers themes of belonging and otherness while questioning who holds power and who is considered "other" in society. Experience a circus that transcends mere spectacle; watch as the performers jump through hoops and put on a show that may not be as joyous and straightforward as it appears from the audience's perspective.

A.P.E. Ltd presents RECORDS: Memory as Protest curated by Sophie Gill and Adrienne Albro-Fisher. In an era of media repression, book bans, mass censorship, and the war being waged on education, the acts of both individual and collective remembrance are powerful forms of social action. RECORDS: Memory as Protest offers a powerful collection of work exploring memory as a form of protest. This is the first group exhibition produced by The Emerging Curator Program at A.P.E.

Live music by Hazel Basil

Hazel's music ranges from calming fingerstyle guitar akin to Sufjan Stevens or Jose Gonzales, to complex alternative rock comparable to Covet or Plini. Her voice is soft and soothing- and her guitar will make anyone take a breath. When performing, she strives to create spaces for audiences to be comfortable exploring their own emotional experience of music. Music saved her life- and she hopes to share the strength and joy she finds in it. More about her and her music can be found here.

NOHO Art Club

Head downstairs to Eli’s Room for a Noho Art Club meet-up from 5:00-7:30 PM hosted by Paige Quinn-Vasic! Come play with collage and gelli plate printing, and check out Paige’s felt sushi demo, an original wet felting technique offered as a workshop through the Center!

All exhibits can also be seen during open hours Wednesday through Saturday, 12-7 p.m. More information about the Barn Door Gallery can be found here.
