Flamenco with Ines Arrubla
Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m.
Ines Arrubla teaches flamenco classes for beginners ("from 11 to 90 years old," she says). Flamenco is the traditional song and dance of the Gypsies (flamencos) of Andalusia in Southern Spain, characterized by intricate toe-and heel-clicking steps, flowing hand movements, elaborate costumes and a range of music from gypsy and jazz to Caribbean percussion and Latin beats. A native of Colombia, Arrubla, who came to the United States in 1998, has dedicated herself to sharing flamenco with all comers. She founded the Flamenco Dance Theater and has since facilitated numerous classes and workshops in this area. Fall classes resumed September 5. Contact Arrubla by phone (413) 253-3727 or visit her
